Does he think people in the order world drink out of puddles?
I'd give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he meant a 'familiar' teacup but when told he should have magic he starts flailing his arms around and claims 'no good' because nothing happens. His head is EMPTY. So might as well be thinking exactly that.

...or that his grandpa's choice of kitchen supplies would change as soon as he crosses the door...

The logical conclusion would be that if his grandpa liked drinking tea, he'd simply have brought his usual teacups through the door from the kitchen on the other side. Even if isekai teacups are somehow different, why would his grandpa go shopping in iseaki-town for something as mundane as teacups when he already has some just a few steps away...

He really chose the stupidest thing to be surprised at.

...Also... THE CAT KNOWS!
She clearly knows that the tea is awful and his grandpa, like himself, was too kind to say it.

So where did his grandpa originate from? It sounds like he travelled between worlds at an older age, which means he must have been a native to 'our world', so that means magic exists on our world - so why not teach his grandson a bit about magic, why hide it? :thonk:

The grandpa sure did a poor job of explaining himself. I guess he focused too much on magic and paid no attention to anything else.

I wonder why the homunculus and demon were forbidden from crossing over to the other world. Did his grandpa just want to avoid bringing foreign elements to his world or is there some sort of incompatibility in their types of existence? And does a familiar remain one when the owner has died?

It's definitely got me curious.

I prefer to wait a bit rather than read something sloppy, thanks for the TL!

I'm going to assume instead of a Japanese style tea cup, he was expecting a Western style tea cup. Based off most isekai manga/LN/WN that I read, I feel that if most have a setting that when one gets isekai'd they get tossed into a more Medieval Europe or some Euro fantasy setting.

I think it's better to just wait for full parts of a chapter and combined them together. There are manga which it's fine but this one got cut badly it's super annoying to read.
