Honestly I kinda had a feeling for a while that his is how the mystery caller plotline was going to go and that this was always the intention.

It’s on-brand for some of this writer’s characters and stories, and I’m not saying that as something against him. He’s fairly good at making potentially complex stories just kinda… fizzle. I think he likes doing it, and I enjoy it. It’s… honestly how that stuff tends to go in the real world, too. He’s good at mixing humor and absurd situations together in a way that still doesn’t feel “impossible to happen”.
