It’s translated up to around chapter 215 via Lezhin and aggregates.
I kept reading thinking the quality would be consistent, but unfortunately the author begins to lose sight of the plot the more they try to expand the scope of the story.
It also has art degradation to reduce the burden of a weekly comic release.
The chapters here on mangadex are all great, but eventually it hits the point of going for dozens of chapters without showing you the main protagonist Zeed, and it has flashbacks inside flashbacks inside flashbacks which last for tens of chapters.
Instead of having a spin-off to focus on the cool side characters, the cool side characters just gradually overtake the main characters and their supporting cast who we’re reading this for to begin with.
It’s definitely a page turner, but part of me is still reading in hopes that the endless flashbacks stop - otherwise I might drop this.
At least when Berserk’s golden age arc went on forever or Helck’s long ass backstory flashback happened, the flashbacks were still great storytelling that still focused on the main core cast of characters.
Not so much here. The author here even left a note saying they got a lot of criticism for doing that in season 1 and that they’ll take it as constructive and learn not to repeat their mistakes…. Then they do it again with even longer flashbacks.
Overall:
The first 17 chapters here on mangadex are a 9/10.
The entire series with its ups and downs is a 7/10.
If you’re going to seek out the rest of the story then prepare for the author to lose track of the plot. A lot.
Edit: this isn’t a complaint so much as a disclaimer, but if there’s a character then expect them to be at some point turned into a loli or shota or both. The author definitely isn’t hiding what he’s into. At a certain point it gets a bit sus.
