@SporadicSanity this is more of a shoujo-ai harem tbh. All the new girls, even the potential gamer-girl rival was captured by the female lead. Male lead is pretty much pushed to the background. Heck I have to wonder if he's even a lead or only just the straight man/narrator.
If his gender changed to female, the story dynamic would barely change; only the genre would move from shonen to moeblob. He is probably only there because the manga is published in a shounen mangazine
