The save seems to have 3 things: The doctor's "memory confusion" hypothesis was always wrong. Ohma had trauma that solidly and falsely limited his power, until he faced it in this last chapter. Second, with this trauma resolution, Ohma's already impressive willpower taps into his latent strength that dominated the presently superior Kiryu Setsuna--or at least that's how I see Setsuna. Third, what the hell is up with this series and people fighting on despite horrible damage? I can't explain away the doctor's diagnosis, nor can I explain Ohma's overburdened heart, nor how he doesn't have terrible internal bleeding from all the broken bones which likely haven't healed.

Then again, the whole "skull helmet"from being often hit with a sledgehammer is wildly implausible, as well as Haru/Haruo losing weight in a medically impossible means, both show that this series takes artistic license to human physiology for the mechanics of the fighters as well as for the theme of the series.

Ohma's perseverance fits both categories, so I'll let it slide.

@Nintendude1997, agreed, but it'll be both a contest of strength and technique.

They keep fighting because they can't stand there's anyone stronger than themselves. "Tactical retreat" doesn't sound very strong after all.

I'm pretty sure no matter how Ohma (or anyone else in this series, really) ever wins, there'll always be at least someone screeching about asspulls in the comments.

I know Niko was barely around for us to even get to know him but for some reason I felt sad when that mental illusion of him said goodbye.

I mean...Ohma's "powers" have been hinted at from the beginning, shown, regularly built up and explained and now in this chapter we get to see that Kure was talking game so that no one would realize that Ohma's techniques were actually affecting him so in the end a fight between them will come down to exactly what his master said; martial arts.

Ohma is a martial arts monster and Kure is a physical prodigy who doesn't need technique or moves to dominate people. So now that all his gas is gone, so to speak, Ohma legitimately has a chance against him if he just fights as he always should have been fighting.

Like with everything we've seen up til now with how much this manga plays with "realism" and what human bodies can do, suddenly Ohma getting up after all this is unbelievable? Hardly.

@OniBarubary, you probably missed, but Kure clan learns every possible martial art that they can find, so saying they don't use techniques is a bit wrong.

The backstory is still boring as shit, but the talk was touching. I like Niko's guidance.
