Danberu is full of reference and cameo from Kengan Ashura, like, one every 3 chapters. Ozu Toshio (Shion's old fighter) even appeared twice, with the scene of him fighting Setsuna.

As I said in previous comment, I think the notion of "substitute fighter" kind of destroy any "plot armor", since we have a lot of very strong character and really tight match. Which make the winner of every match even more incertain !

@Dysisa I mean, you can't fault people for being wary about something that happens CONSTANTLY in other manga. We trust Kengan Asura to not go for those tropes too much but even then it has still occasionally happened.

- Akemi had the same name as Shion, as mentioned in this chapter
- The girls were said to attend Shion's Koyo academy
- Ozu Toshio makes two cameos, as mentioned
- Gaolang has his portrait in the boxing club and is later mentioned again
- Sekibahara Jun shows up to be shamed by Sakura's food intake
- Adam Dudley (and his cowgirl groupie) just straight shows up
Missing the first two connections is understandable, even natural, but by the point you get to the fighters' appearances, it's pretty much obvious they're shared universes.

You see the problem is you got idiots who go into any story nowadays expecting nothing but copy and pasted scenes from other mainstream stories. Instead of giving the writer the benefit of the doubt. I mean you got people who honestly thought bakugou from my hero Academia was going to become the next Sasuke even though literally every scene involving him pointed in the exact opposite direction for his character.

Previous fight has revealed his weakness - he doesn't have a finishing move with high damage output. Obviously, a last minute improvisation is worthless against Beardy, who is so OP that he can win two matches with one declaration.

lol all those references and honestly, I don't even remember seeing or even recognizing them. Only thing I knew for sure was the teacher being part of the Kure clan. Heck I didn't even remember Akemi's last name until it was brought up here.
