I really like the Poison Phoenix as a waifu and I am upset there isn't a Romance tag.

So because there wasn't already a girl vying for his dick there can't be romance? He's trying to save his world, doesn't mean there can't be someone down the line. Remember, he's already changing the future even now.
As for the Phoenix, hate is just another form of love. And I dont think she straight hates him anyways. She's gone uncontested her whole life. So he's more of a shock to her ego than anything. And besides, if she hated him, she wouldn't have agreed to journey with him this second time.

Doesn't really hate him...did you forget the fact she tried to make him drink their sects most dangerous poison, and attempted to kill him twice via projectile weapons? If anything she's only now gone from desiring his death to strong dislike. She's honorable to her word and is simply paying to the bet she lost along with going with what her father ordered her to do.
Edit: On another note, he himself is an Ascetic so romance is likely not going to happen, though we do have that girl back at the sect.

I don't know how much of an Ascetic he is.
I mean, there are different forms of asceticism, but his is strange.
There are two main type, Natural and Unnatural. Seeing as unnatural ascetics practice self-harm regularly, it's safe to say he isn't following that.
But in the Natural Asceticism part, there a lot of things he doesn't respect... Really important things like:
Fasting seems pretty common, but he seems to eat well.
The preservation of life under all circonstance is really important too, but he seems fine killing people and animals alike...
Some try to minimise their material needs by not having propriety over anything and dressing in the simplest fashion... again, he clearly owns his weapons and has pretty fine clothes.
