@Beastkun I know I'm hella late, but the author could have had Muteba beat Wakatsuki after losing an arm, then have him force Tomoko to substitute him out for someone so his career as a mercenary wouldn't be in jeopardy from more injuries. That someone could be Kiryu, setting him and Ohma up for a semi-finals fight.

I do like how this story has played out though, so those are just pointless what-ifs.
