Well, I expected something to happen between Chiyo and Ookuma, but certainly not this quickly. Here I go with another rant...

I am further convinced that Chiyo still has lingering feelings for Ookuma, if only subconsciously, and does not hate and despise him as others have suggested or, indeed, as she, herself, said that she'd "rather not see him again…" If she really did despise him, she would never have clung to him as she did. Indeed, she would have yanked her arm away when he grabbed it. But, no, instead, she hung on to him for dear life.

And just like she did back in chapter 71 when Igarashi thought Ookuma was confessing to Chiyo, she turned the tables on Igarashi and made him out to be an idiot. I wouldn't be surprised if Chiyo realized that she is still in love with Ookuma and wonders why on earth is she spending time with such a buffoon like Igarashi, who she may think she loves, but she clearly does not seem to like. And I wouldn't be surprised if Ookuma maneuvers Chiyo into spending some quiet, intimate time with him on this holiday.

Frankly, if the Chiyo - Ookuma connection doesn't come to the surface during this holiday, I'll be pretty annoyed, regardless of the outcome. Coco has dragged this fiasco on way too long making Igarashi the perpetual unknowing third wheel in his own relationship. Of course, there's the definite possibility, rather, probability that Chiyo will dump Igarashi for Ookuma once she finds out that he spent time alone with Subaru in her own apartment. Since she, herself, cannot be trusted to tell the truth, Chiyo will not believe that Igarashi has no romantic interest in Subaru, and will assume the worst.

And then there's the most apropos line in the chapter: "I should give up on him, right…?" Duh!? Nagatsuki, when you're not off in you imaginary world dreaming about being Ookuma's Princess, you're okay, but this delusional fantasy of yours has gone on long enough!

@ElTipejoLoco I don't know if this was a screw-up on the part of mangadex programmers, or if it was another member screwing around, but, due to your comment, I just noticed that all of the tags for this series except "shoujo" had disappeared. Since I use the old reader set to "long strip" format, I didn't notice that it wasn't showing up that way for other people. As I have set the tags (again), it should be okay now.

Oh, weird! I didn't think that was handled via tags. Good to know it was that easy to fix, though, at least!

@ElTipejoLoco As far as I remember (it's been a year now since I created the Koi Inu page here on mangadex), the longstrip format wasn't originally set using tags, but it was a separate option on the manga data page. I'm guessing that when the new tag system was implemented recently, the programmers didn't implement all the appropriate data. Anyhow, thanks for the comment bringing it to my attention.

@ElTipejoLoco On further reflection, I remember having discussions with @Holo about this way back when, so I just checked the mangadex logs. As per our discussions, he implemented webtoon support on 2018-02-01, meaning that a separate [x] Webtoon option was added to the manga data page and thus that manga would automatically be displayed in long strip format. On 2018-02-14, Holo also added a user setting [x] Long strip to the original reader so that users, like me, could read all comics in the long strip format. However, neither of those original options now exist, but have been bundled into the tagging feature.

To be honest, I'd love forChiyo to realize she's actually in love with Ookuma and cut Igarashi loose - the poor boy has been suffering this whole time trying to be her boyfriend. Given how easily women who are actually kind to Igarashi distract him, I think he subconsciously realizes he's made a bad play in committing himself to his first crush.

@sylvacoer Although I agree with you that Igarashi continuously suffers from Chiyo's harsh treatment of him, I think it will take a really crushing blow for him to give up on her, like catching her in bed with Ookuma in the act of having sex. He waited ten long years to meet his first (and only) love again, and has never even looked at another girl through a romantic lens.

I do keep wondering how Chiyo would treat Ookuma if they started dating. Would she treat him with the same disdain she does Igarashi, as if he's some dog that needs to be kicked to keep him in line, or would she treat Ookuma like a prince and, unlike with Igarashi, fawn all over him?

@FredFriendly - I think she'd treat Ookuma as a prince AT FIRST. And then her natural inclinations toward brattiness and jealousy would take hold and she and Ookuma would be in the same place they were when they broke up before university.

And I think Chiyo knows that this is how it would play out, at least subconsciously - she's been indulged for too long to curb her bratty impulses, and Ookuma actually seems like someone who wouldn't put up with them (hence why he's rejected Chiyo's stalker friend).
