The manga ends a week too early; a week later Sou and Saya return from their honeymoon only to find Asato hanging by his neck inside their new house, immediately in front of their frontdoor by his belt, his corpse 6 days into decomposition. The stench permeated the carpets and drapes; Saya couldn't stand to be inside the home, no matter how many times the entire house was professional cleaned she smelled Asato's rotting body. Sou had no choice but to sell his home for 80% listing price (due to being required to inform potential buyers of the suicide) and they used that to buy a similar home - the same distance away from their college, but as far away from where Asato's corpse hung. The home no longer subconsciously evoked the image of Asato for Saya, but she became unable to be intimate with Sou, as whenever they were kissing, she'd see Asato reflected in his eyes and causing her to begin weeping. Their marriage would linger for another five years, suffering from numerous cases of infidelity and binge drinking. Both of them guilty as they searched for some way to experience happiness like they once had, just one more time. Finally, a year out of college the two give up and in, what would be their third worst fight - resulting in a broken dinner table among other bric-a-brac - they accept that they'll never be able to be happy together ever again and divorce. As the years tick by they each passively meander through life, never once experiencing that warm-feeling of happiness.

Asato looks up from hell and smiles. It was worth it.
