MC feels a bit too pathetic. I get why he can't get a girlfriend.
I don't think it's that hard to figure out which one out of 6 people will commit suicide that evening.
Just check them, one by one, in the worst case you restart. Then you move on to the next person. Don't interact with people as much as possible and do your thing without changing the predefined events. Don't make any assumptions - there is a reason the childhood friend is in the pool.
I get that dying a few times will be unpleasant, but fumbling around randomly definitely won't bring better results. For now he already died twice and knows nothing.
