I'm curious what you think would have been "correct" way to have explained it to a minor.

I think MC tried his best not to say anything hateful about anyone while dodging the topic of sex. He mentioned that it was not "bad", and approached it emphatically by saying that it's "sad". He stayed neutral as much as possible; he only needed to explain why he wouldn't help them afterall.
