anybody remember if nishikata and takagi ever used a smartphone and what ver was it? i wanna find out what era/year they were in middle school, the moto one and the teen chi one... like is this set in the future? maybe 2020+?

@no168_92 up to now nothing futuristic has showed up, aside from a UFO flash, but it doesnt means its in the future.

They did use smartphone and he did manage to make her blush by say something that sounds like "I like/love", bur he wouldnt see her so he does not know. The only thing I notice is that it's a smarthphone.

@no168_92 In chapter 34, the cell phones seem to have an iPhone 5 influence, while in the anime, Nishikata looks like he has the iPhone 6 while Takagi-san has the iPhone 5, hence why she asked if she could see the "new model." Sanae-chan seems to own some sort of Android phone.

In the Moto series, which is supposed to be 10 years after the current series, Nishikata is seen having an iPhone X.

In accordance to the last page, it does almost sound like a oneshot of Karakai Jouzu no (Moto) Takagi-san showing the somewhat future version of Chi. Considering Takagi never acted like this and Chi does all the time. Though, it could also just be a joke hinting that Chi's life through school is going to be just like theirs I suppose. Kind of feels this should be part of moto but I guess it could be fitting in either.
