It's nice, but the attempt to broach a greater theme at the end is lost on me.

Also, IRL, I would trust him 0% at this point. A man who moves swiftly after being told, "I'm simple-minded [about love]"...? I'd want to keep him at arm's length for a bit to make sure he wasn't just being opportunistic. But, it's a oneshot and there are time constraints and we can assume things turn out well simply because they are protagonists of a shoujo manga, etc. etc.
