You thought Ookuma was confessing to Chiyo back at the school festival, but when you asked what was going on she got mad at you instead. Even though you desperately wanted to know what they were talking about, you didn't pursue the matter and decided to trust Ookuma because he was a "good guy."

You caught Chiyo and Ookuma together having a secret meeting in the middle of the night (not once, but twice) and you even heard Ookuma confess that he loved Chiyo, but did you ask her what it was about? Nope, just like a dope.

You really need to ignore the social consequences and put a lot more effort into finding out the truth about these situations that affect your love life.

but incase of Okumma which you might remember, she went behind Igarashi a LOT of times including once he even caught her in the middle of the night, Igarashi never ever confronted her over this.

you should have seen her attitude with Okumma, she gave him the chance to talk it out with her but she never gave Igarashi a chance to talk out, she always bitches on him and he ends up just begging her.

this pretty much sums up the relationship where Chiyo can do whatever she wants, Igarashi will not question her or else she becomes a bitch, if Igarashi does something unintentionally she won't like.
she will become a bigger bitch about it then she is already, Igarashi will be beaten up in all of this.

no, i've read it. I'm not a chiyo super fan by any stretch of the imagination, this is definitely not unreasonable.

talking about ookuma:
people harp on this shit way too much. she didn't 'go behind his back', she TALKED to him. Igarashi 'catching' her talking to ookuma spurred on his own jealousy, which isn't crazy considering she did, in fact, have a history with him. She FINALLY gave ookuma the chance to explain himself because it's something that seriously hurt HER. Not because she felt like being a bitch to igarashi.

you also have to consider the fact that for way longer than they've been dating, they were friends, and already have an established interaction dynamic. trying to evolve from that is not flipping a switch. He's dumb but nice and she's dumb but thinks she's smarter, so she takes it upon herself to be the arbiter of good judgement whether or not she's right

tl;dr chiyo's annoying but not half the monster people in these comments make her out to be. also, it's fucking japan. cultural norms are different from [wherever the fuck the reader is], unless you're from japan.

also igarashi's too dumb and nice to ever leave her since he's loved her forever. also she's got boobs, and he likes boobs.

She FINALLY gave ookuma the chance to explain himself because it's something that seriously hurt HER. Not because she felt like being a bitch to igarashi.

So when will Chiyo FINALLY show Igarashi the respect that she shows Ookuma and explain to Igarashi what she was doing with Ookuma 1. when it appeared that Ookuma was confessing to her at the festival, 2. why she was having a secret meeting with Ookuma at 1:30am when everyone else was asleep and 3. repeat number 2.? She shows Ookuma an overwhelming amount of consideration compared to what little she shows Igarashi. It's been 133 chapters since Chiyo briefly (and I do mean briefly) thought to herself that she should tell Igarashi about Ookuma after she first deceived her "boyfriend" about her relationship with Ookuma by pretending she didn't know him, yet she still hasn't told Igarashi the truth. All that he learned from Chiyo was that they went to the same Middle School. Everything else about her "relationship" with Ookuma he learned from someone else.

Let's recap what Chiyo thinks about Igarashi as a boyfriend:

chapter 65:

Miyu: Hey Chiyoki, what is it about Igarashi that made you fall in love with him?

Chiyo: Th-th-th... There's really nothing about him that I'm in love with!? I mean, he's smelly when he sweats, and he's lame!

Chiyo: Well, like, we've known each other forever! We're childhood friends...

Miyu: Then why are you dating?

Yuna: (She likes him but she won't admit it.)

Chiyo: I just thought, "Hey, why not go out with him!?"

chapter 89:

Yuna: By the way... What's so great about Igarashi? Of course he's got a good personality, but to be frank, he's really long-winded and too serious. He seems like the type who'd suggest marriage...

Chiyo: Hmm-... What's good about him again? I forgot now.

Miyu: Being in love really is quite the ordeal...

Chiyo: Yeah... But!

Chiyo: There are a lot of good things about it too!

Chiyo: For example, he buys me pudding!

Conclusion: he'll do for now until a better sucker comes along...

@nobaka you are right about us disliking Chiyo too much, and its not a culture thing, its more of a manner how she treats her lover and someone who used to love her and betrayed her,
she treats him like she won't lose him and is the one that is probably gonna dump him if gets out of line, this is what pisses us off.

as @FredFriendly said, she takes Igaraishi over the premise of him being just her Childhood friend, and confirms it as well however we all know she likes him for what he is, a lovable puppy like guy which she will never admit because of her personality, but the part that gets us all is when she treats him so lowly compared to other people ESPECIALLY Okumma after what he did to her.
tell me, do you think she will give Igarashi a chance after he slept with Subaru from becoming dead drunk?

no, not at all infact she will bring down the worst a girl can bring over a guy, but incase of Okumma, she will go to him in the middle of the night to let him explain, this is what infuriates us all, the different treatment, and there are real people like this that I have met, both men and women and its mostly these people that end up losing the most because they never care about those who really care about them.
