I want to respect Koutaru, but he's so senseless, it kinds of hurt. Says he loves Kuro, but honestly doesn't actually care about her, at all, just her looks. Then, even when he's told about his childhood friend, who quite frankly is probably holding herself back for him, he doesn't seem to be the type to reciprocate her feelings in the slightest, despite it being best for all 3 involved.

I can say the same vice versa but before that I will say sure Hikari deserves happiness and I'm all for the MC finally seeing her efforts and giving in to her. Now...

I'm not taking the MC's side, just keeping his perspective in mind, which was very much so disregarded.
Sure, Kuro might have been through a lot and sure Hikari deserves happiness but why are we disregarding the MC's happiness?
They both deserve to have their wishes fulfilled but not the MC? His wishes, desires and happiness means squat?
And what was his fault in being cursed? For all we know, how he is right now is the curses fault. And we don't even know what transpired for them to be cursed. Kuro was sent to them as a god of fortune but ended up being killed but we don't know how and if that in itself was also Kuro's fault. Anyways wasn't the MC's fault so not his problem, but very much so becomes his since the girl he loves happiness depends on it.
Then we don't even know about his family's situation but that both of his parents left him to be alone for their(dads) job(s). This might not even be the first time this has happened.
How do you expect him to be perfect then.
Regarding Hikari though, yes she's perfect and the best, but that in itself is the problem. You said she's holding herself back for the MC, and does the MC not know how inferior he is to her? Does he not know if he gets with her, he'll end up holding her back even more? Can her perfectness not also be why he never thought of her as a LI? As in he never thought such a perfect girl would ever love him? Keeping this in mind, either due to his insecurities or for her benefit, why would he marry her?

Also his loveless world also means a losing end for the other 2. Kuro will always remain a god of curses and Hikari would be left hurt.
