Why did Hikari cover for Kuro and act like she didn't know where she is, when she saw her hugging blonde dude on the beach? As far as she is concerned MC and Kuro are relatives.
I can't be certain, but if I had to guess -

Either because she wanted to give Kuro privacy since all she saw was her hugging Lower Half MVP and got embarrassed for walking into what seemed like an intimate moment; or

She remembers that Lower-Half MVP had previously basically bet Kuro like a trophy in the baseball game, that the MC was not happy about that, and doesn't want to risk an altercation on the beach if he were to see Kuro hugging the guy, since they did in fact have to get back to work soon anyway.

That said, I don't know if I myself buy either option, as I think it was kind of a nonsensical response from her whatever the case. But the first kinda feels more appropriate, because "being flustered at moments of intimacy from others" is such a hardwired trope in romcom / romance drama manga that it would be reasonable to assume she'd freak out seeing two random people doing that, much less Kuro and Blondie.

Kind of annoying that the main dude suddenly caught feelings for his childhood friend because he couped her breast. Is that how love works?

I blame it all on him. If he knew what he wanted (which should be the cat), this would be an easy conundrum to solve. Sure, there'd be a loser, but that's life - someone always gets shafted.

ahh... misunderstandings in romance manga are the best :haa: especially since MC is complete idiot :aquadrink:

manga-rascal-does-not-dream-of-bunny-girl-senpai.gif

takasu-senpai works at a cafe, and tons of girls like him. He purposely gets close to Hikari when the MC sees them Hikari gets flustered, and Koutarou suddenly snaps. Takasu puts on a smug, mocking face to tick Koutarou off. There’s a short flashback showing Kuro asking Takasu to help Koutarou and Hikari get together. Takasu tells her that the best way to fix love problems is to create a sense of danger so he purposely acts overly close to Hikari in front of Koutarou (and yeah, it actually works).

At the bathhouse, MC and his classmates talk about how Takasu’s all over Hikari. MC’s still acting shy and clueless as ever. Suddenly Takasu shows up too (and everyone, including MC, freaks out after seeing how huge Takasu is down there). Takasu bluntly asks, “Who exactly are you to Hikari?” but MC replies, “You look like that kind of cool delinquent who can date multiple girls at once I can’t just sit still and watch Hikari get hurt.”

Takasu throws his words right back: “Aren’t you the same? You like both Hikari and Kuro you’ve been hurting people for a while now.” After the bath, MC’s left brooding like an idiot. At the end of the page, Kuro suggests praying at a shrine on a small mountain behind the inn. The legend says if you pray there, you’ll end up together in the future. The last panel ends with Takasu saying, ‘Let’s all test our courage together!’

thank you for translating

Dating multiple people = having a crush on two people and not knowing what to do... sure...

Not that the latter is  good, but if i was told that by a playboy it'd hold no weight...

she's also ostensibly a cat.

I've not met every cat ever, but every cat I've ever been around, when upset, has not wanted physical contact at that time.

I can't imagine it's too big a leap that her being a cat deity makes a distinct difference in how she'd behave, since we've seen her give in to "cat mannerisms" before already.

But to your other comment, I agree - she knows that the MC likes her, and I guess she's just ignoring that factor, simply because he's starting to grow conscious of his childhood friend?
That doesn't mean he's okay with watching Kuro get together with "Lower Half MVP", and to either not understand that, or simply dismiss it, means nothing but trouble.

And of course, Hikari misunderstands and thinks Kuro was always talking about Blondie BaseBall, and now she will get caught up in the shitstorm if she tries to help Kuro get together with BBB and MC finds out.
This could all explode in Kuro's face in the worst way possible with MC feeling betrayed enough to isolate from both of them if he finds out, and I think it's less an "if" than a "when", given he lives with Kuro and will notice if she's starting to go around at odd hours or catches her talking with BBB and deduces what's happening.
Word.
Also, your tag/name is wrong. You clearly have empathy.
And I actually want to find manga with authors who don't write stuff that feels so contrived.
I don't want to feel manipulated.
Koe no katachi is obviously playing pingpong with our feelings, so there's that. And it's painful. But in that case, it's so good/well done, that I have no problems at all in being manipulated, even when I see how it's done.
(Maybe I just don't like jock f-boys, and there are none in that manga? Hmmm, time to do some soul-searching ...)
