What is the point of redoing a thing that someone else has did (decently) before? It’s just a waste of time for the scanlators and adds confusion for the readers who have to choose which release to read. Pick up a new series if you’re bored, do something else that is fun and/or productive – there is no need to pretend that rereleasing existing chapters is a thing that anyone needs.
If you want to continue scanlating this series, just be quick on the next new chapter.
The hostility comes from getting people’s hopes up only to let them down and littering their notifications…

Like @Jendrej similarly pointed out my problem with this is that it clutters up my Follows page, especially in cases like this where they release several chapters at once. Although sure it's only a minor inconvenience it's still an unnecessary one especially when the original upload was already of high quality.

The reason people are annoyed isn't that there's a second translation. Competition is fine, though it's usually not worth it compared to taking on an untranslated series instead.
The real problem here is that the group was already found to be putting out bogus "translations" that were completely different from the actual text.
