@Hamin yeah the presence of spirits to accelerate things has been there from the very first chapters with Tanjirou's dead relatives urging them to not die or snap out of it at crucial times. So basically it did end up as something we are supposed to take as normal.

@Serenata judging from Kanroji's reaction after getting slashed, that seems the case. Muzan did say his attacks contained his blood so figures.

@nahc-atikO Personally I thought of it as more about how he should be used to dreaming and stuff and realizing he can't smell things in a dream. But then again is Tanjirou maybe he still can smell things normally with his super nose that somehow doesn't make him pass out whenever he smells disgusting things.

I never said it would be underwhelming, the author has shown his ability to make a power up at the last minute satisfying, look at the chapter vs the lower moon where he pulls the ability to use the flame dance out his ass in a flashback. The author has made Deus ex machina like what I suggested satisfying over and over, he always puts emotional weight into it.
