It really reminds me of the final Ichigo/Aizen showdown in Bleach as well. Aizen/Muzan interrupted right as they are about to slaughter people and Ichigo/Tanjiro first ignoring the antagonist to talk to the support cast before finally turning back to the bigbad guy as if he's an afterthought trash that ought to be cleaned up.
