Zero cost this, Zero cost that. It doesn't matter if you payed for the material when the materials value is far greater sold individually instead of combined into a final product. It's rather stupid to use raw materials of such value just to sell the final product well under its initial value of materials, regardless if you payed for the materials or gathered by hand.
He should have used materials within the budget of the final product or become a material seller and go around town selling it without the need to pay for a stall. Business God frowns on you.

Not exactly zero cost, time that could be spent doing something else is also the cost, forgot what it was called, cost opportunity? and daily living expenses during that time.
