Stories of mercy are nice. From Schindler’s List, to when Destroyer Inazuma’s crew saved 400 sailors after sinking their cruiser, pilots sparing heavily damaged enemy aircrafts and giving them an escort back to safe air spaces, rare stories of mercy are good for the soul. Or world war 2’s Christmas Truce. Not limited to mercy, but peace and kindness as well.

@Ekfreet what the fuck are you shitting there? stop dragging your trash politicrap here.
It's about individual person who morally struggle to do good beyond their duty. The country ain't even the main point of the story. smh

@Ekfreet I was expecting a different kind of one shot if you catch my drift. But we shouldn't lump a diverse group of people (soldiers) together into a good or bad designation.

Entering the military is a choice. Not refusing a draft is also a choice. You know what you are getting into when you accept those terms.

Imagine if you saw a manga trying to humanize fucking ISIS terrorists.

You must be thinking that Im exaggerating right? The reality is that these lovely people were clearly ordered to fucking kill civilians. That makes them the same as terrorists. Not thinking that it is okay doesn't change the fact of following the orders of a group of terrorists.

Im sure that some aren't bad apples and that there must be some 'good' people. But drawing a feel-good manga about this is simply distasteful.

You do realize there are non-combatant officers, medical personnel, the coast guard (yeah I think they're military???) who will never really kill anybody unless by accident. Also, I'd say ISIS terrorist are humans. Extremists and terrible human beings, but still humans. Should we treat terrorists kindly? No, not really. Should we recognize they aren't just a black and white evil being who we should remorselessly kill? Yes (doesn't change the fact that they should be killed though).

Also the German military has a rule in which German soldiers can refuse orders that they believe violates the dignity of humans. People can be terrible or kind, this one shot sorta highlight this fact and I think you just picked up on the kindness part in your comment (what I mean is that the one shot also addresses the dark side of the situation but not as explicitly I guess?).

I like this one shot cause it shows mercy, but at the same time shows the fucked up fact that the soldier was supposed to the kill civilians.

Hilarious is how you are preaching about treating terrorists as humans while saying that they don't deserve the right of continuing to live, a basic human right agreed by the UN which the death penalty violates. https://www.aclu.org/issues/human-rights/human-rights-and-death-penalty

I don't think that we will get anything out of going back and forth as you are being subjective.

@Ekfreet I'm saying we should still recognize they're humans. Just bad humans lol. Yeah we probably won't reach an agreement because you think I'm subjective and I think you only see in false dichotomies.
