Slightly stressed out for a moment by what Iori said in response to the cheating question, but holy damn, that last page was so sweet. I'd love to see Iori show that side in front of Minami more. Minami definitely needs those kinds of comments to instill more confidence in her.

I really don't like the direction they are taking Iori.. What happened to the woman that went to get her wifey back with a bat? I'm not one to say that it should be "fluffy" all the time... However, it's like they did a complete 180 with her character, now she's like the cocky, drunk, and abusive BF that knows he can do whatever he wants because his gf won't leave him.
@codydub03 If anything, your example just shows that violence was always her first response.
I'm not really worried though. Iori's violence is played for comedic effect, so I doubt it is considered by the author to be a source of tension for their relationship.

@mmosimca Well, I do understand the comedic effect they are trying to portray, but it's not the same thing as "play hitting" she literally bruised her face a couple of times. I wasn't trying to make the thing mainly about abuse since I've commented about that specifically in a previous chapter.
It's more like her personality in general is worse, which should be a source of tension for the relationship. A few cute panels they have together aside, she basically is turning out to be someone only in a relationship because she doesn't want to be alone. However, as meek as Minami is portrayed it'll never actually become an issue.

@codydub03 Which chapters did she bruise her face? I only remember the aftermath of meeting Nakano for the first time when she got bruises, not counting her childhood being brought up.

@UnluckyGrape Chapter 32 is the main incident people are referring to. Also Chapter 17, though there it was glossed over so you didn't see as many frustrated comments. In contrast Chapter 32 really looks like abuse.
Personally I see her threat in this chapter just as an exaggeration to express that she would be extremely pissed off. And I don't really have a problem with it; lots of people say "I'm gonna kill X" or "I'm going to strangle X" as a way to communicate anger. It's not a literal threat. I think its more that chapter 32 poisoned the well for a lot of people, making it harder to assume Iori wasn't serious.

@UnluckyGrape Indeed, what @mirewitch said chp 32. I think there was also like chp 17 or 18? Don't really remember.. However, we are kind of seeing it used more frequently.
For me specifically I don't really like the "comedic violence" simply for the reason that she was literally beaten and had an ash-tray thrown at her head by her so called friend or ex-gf?? It hasn't really clarified what relationship those two actually had/have. So, for any form of abuse to used even for something as small as comedic relief by a MC is sort of in poor taste(something like in the last panel of chp 31)

Id probably destroy their social life as best i could, physical violence is way too outdated.
Still "I'd give up" what does that mean from Minami? That she'd just let them cheat ? That she'd give up on the relationship? I think it's the former cuz yeah that kind of sounds like her even if she always appears like a very grounded and capable person it's sad that shes someone that really relies on another person's love to keep herself up, a real interesting part of her character.

@codydub03 While there are great justifications and arguements for why they are the case, as well as we the viewers are able to get a glimpse into the viewership of the situation and scenario, we should never assume such, more so on just the basis of never really understanding a siutation or simply deep diving way too much into a scenario. Its also the idea of what call abuse, if you're going by a definition of repeated cruelty, its not really abuse then. If anything, its outrage at a person for thinking that their relationship won't amount to anything despite the sheer amount of happiness and joy they've had.
