Holy shit, JonJT is right, that scene is specifically from the movie Never Back Down

I didn't recognise it at first because of the angle - maybe its a production shot? But it's definitely this scene: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sI9C7RrqTtM

The problem with capoeira in professional competitions is the size of the ring. It is a street fight, developed by slaves to face aggressors in the open field, in the streets, during escapes ... The "ginga" is a wide movement that allows very unpredictable blows, but with little space it ends up limited... In a ring like the one in the manga, it can work... I once took a "rabo de arraia" from a friend, in a fake fight on the beach, very fast and totally unpredictable for an amateur boxer like me. I was standing, and then I had my face on the floor.

@TrueGoddessReincarnation This is a movie, in real life no capoeira practitioner flips like a gymnast to an opponent.

Equally, a street fight could be in a tight alleyway or in a crowded pub.

You're actually likely to have less room to move than a ring in a real fight.

But no one's denying that when Capoeira kicks are actually landed they produce tremendous force.

The problem is that it isn't complete enough as a striking style and leaves a lot of gaps defensively.

Yes, it is true today. But at the time it was developed, it was more of a "field fight" than a "street fight". Slaves were agrarian workers, "dance" was practiced in "terreiros" (large spaces where the enslaved lived together). Fights during escapes took place in forests, where slaves could attack by surprise, knock down and knock out armed pursuers quickly ... An excellent guerrilla martial art. Hit and run.
Even today, practitioners train in large warehouses, squares, etc ... So small spaces such as rings can be quite problematic for the fluidity of movements. Perhaps what I called a "street fight" was a bad choice, since the most modern street fights are the result of various urban conflicts. My mistake.

page 13 : reading 1 book is enough to become a martial artist master ..... , this reminds me of this scene : a rat becomes a martial artist master just by reading a children book in a sewer : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1JHqVsXnQxQ .

This video shows how capoeira can be deadly, and this makes sense why Mendel's chose capoeira.

If they made up, Saw Paing probably helped Gaolang with that bone conditioning.
