FINALLY. Jeez, I know that she has the book's bias (and the bloody body from earlier) that the duke is sinister, but I wouldn't have thought it would take 23 chapters to even entertain the idea of Ain having both of his parents cooperating to be a benefit to caring for him and keeping him away from being a villain like she's so focused on doing.

I'm starting to feel that Cassius somewhat resembles Zuko. Both of them are hella awkward and easily misunderstood lmao

@bullrex
there is a big difference though.
zuko would say, yeah sorry i send a assassin at you. but dont worry.
Cassius would say. i wouldn't send a assassin, it would have been very inefficient. *while holding a knife and poison in the other hand

*sigh* 😤 I'm a lil annoyed by her behaviour. Like on one hand she treats Ain like a real person and not just someone whose actions are locked in place and pre-determined by the story she read, but on the other, she treats the Duke like a lepper and is weirded out whenever he does something that would be OOC for the OG Duke from the story.
Like ofc he's not the same. Neither are you or Ain, ya damn lady. You can't think of a reason why Cassius would want to play with you guys? Really? You are aware that he went through the same exact training your precious Ain is right? And that he didn't have anyone advocating for him to be a child or to not be an emotionless troll, correct???? So why wouldn't he be curious? Huh? Why?

I can't believe this woman. But I'm glad she lets him join, even if she doesn't want to if she can help it. Didn't she think he had experienced the exact same thing as his son before, or worse & can't she sympathise with him at all or give him more room to grow on her? She's not just anyone but his wife, so the least she can do is to get to know him beyond what she read in the book, on the surface level. Ugh.

Anyway, all in all, I'm curious about what the Emperor & her husband talked about. Were they blood family before they reincarnated into this current life together? That'd be interesting to know.

I can relate to the Duke. My expressions don't follow as I want to either lol.
Though I understand her reactions. She literally just saw him drag a body bag around the halls, knows that he ignored Ain's abuse in the novel, and watch as he administrates poison to the boy--- it's normal to be scared and cautious. Safety comes first before trying to sympathize with a hurt soul. He has the power to thanos her and Ain (at least to her) out of existence hence, her guard is always up. She hasn't spent enough time with him to have trust.

JUST LET HIM INNNNN-- He just wants some love too.

Also, being cautious is good but giving someone a benefit of the doubt is good too.
