People who say tough love. I've read enough stories and first hand accounts how detrimental mentally this master and apprentice routine can be. There's a lack of positive in improving one's skills if you aren't giving a compliment on what they are doing right. Look at how you teach a dog. They respond to someone giving them positive reinforcement over punishment. They learn twice as fast.

Like any human, a compliment can do wonders over criticism.

A little scolding and they’ll get mad like crazy..... besides, from the past chapters the gramps gave him a lot of pointers for him to figure out, he got the basics but he lacks something in his product. it’s the same with drawing, you can learn the basic anatomy and coloring from everyone else but finding your own unique style is up to you.... also complimenting something just for the sake of it is the same as giving empty words

Been wondering for a while, but I think I get why the male lead is compared to copper sheet now. His single-minded dedication is proving to be obstructing him from actually improving the quality of his crafts. When Gramps criticized him, he spaced out instead of absorbing the pointers he needed to refine his skills. I guess this also explains why Gramps was hoping for the female lead to be the fire to his copper.

It'd take him a really long time to get married for real if he doesn't try to improve his current method and mindset.
