Why is this mangaka spending so much time describing their fictional game when they have no idea how games would actually operate in it?

First != Best, though it's kinda obvious nobody takes the time to flesh out the mechanics behind their VMMO games.
A comprehensive cooking sim with simple HP bars? Booooooo

@Longherin No the problem is that too much time IS being spent talking about the mechanics. And the fact that it's being done poorly is the complaint. If the mechanics were just glossed over in favor of the story, that would be fine because the focus would be the plot line. But if you're going to spend all this time explaining how the game works, it better well make sense.

@AMetroid I would argue that the mechanics are being glossed over in favor of story, because it never goes into detail on how the things happen, just that things happen.

...well, I should clarify that I don't consider "and then I could stealth" as an explanation of mechanics. "I went smithing" doesn't, either.
It would be more believable if the hero documented much more of the world around him, because by himself it's really hard to believe that he's as lucky as he is. Of that point I wholeheartedly agree.

Why has he still not gotten a fairy? Like, everyone else has one right? New players get one? Why has he not got one?

"it's become harder to fight without specializing" huh? no it didn't. the admins only released information on how the system worked, they didn't change it or make monsters stronger, so If you could fight before, you still can.

Not sure if you're still reading this manga, but if you are, it is explained next chapter why he doesn't get a contract fairy.

Basically, after the Fairy Dance event arc, becoming Earth's partner fairy became a fad in the Fairy Kingdom, and the Fairy elders were forced to prohibit it to limit the chaos and not bother Earth.
Earth does get a 'partner' fairy eventually, but she isn't actually contracted to him and is just following him out of friendship.
