The invading force seriously acting as though they're in the right and that the enemy was going too far by killing the pope who had both 1) been advocating for war, and 2) been standing on the battlefield.

I don't blame them for allowing the pope onto the battlefield. considering it is a fantasy setting, either the pope has great buffing/healing abilities, or is in such a position of authority that no one would try and stop him from doing as he pleases.

BUT. I mean, I know it is to be expected that the people who choose to invade believe they're in the right, but seriously. You let the pope, who has been a leader actively advocating for the successful invasion, onto the battlefield encouraging the soldiers to fight and expect that the enemy won't try and kill him if given the chance? How fucking dumb are you Gehennacross idiots?

well since this human nation seems super weak compared to the adventurers who are already linked to the fairies nation and the other magical creatures even if they make peace with the magical creatures they'd probably still be wiped out by the adventurers since they arent offically a nation and other than being exp / loot pintas they have nothing to offer the adventurers

the premise was valid at the early part of the story/game since the whole thing was newly setup/released from development....
now, after many patches, updates, new mechanics, etc....
and Earth himself being a somewhat famous player, I'm pretty sure the premise is no longer valid....

@no168_92 Whole concept of flight existing makes special place for one of very few ranged weapons. While true that it wasn't known since game start, it is revealed now and throwing pretty big shadow on whole thing.
Also author was going to make his character overpowered one way or another. Could have saved space by not pretending his character is underdog.

Knowing the trajectory of an arrow does not mean you can reposition hundreds of soldiers in the literal seconds of said arrow's travel time. And I assume that there's some sort of magic on the enemy arrows that they can even begin to overcome gravity and hit him.

To some people complaining about why would a pope be on a battlefield: A pope is basically a king from a theocratic kingdom, and throughout history, there was a bunch of kings who commanded their troops on the battlefield, so it's not that farfetched if we put the cliched fantasy theme of the game in consideration

@entity_101 wouldnt most of those kings also have been trained in combat/warfare/tactics which a pope (even as a face that could improve moral) couldnt handle? i think it would make sense to have a king AND the pope but the pope would have to be secondary to the king.

@permisan The thing is we today see the pope as nothing more than the head of the Catholic Church, but in the past, a Pope was literally the most powerful ruler in Europe because if the Pope was secondary to a king then the crusades would never have happened, nor the inquisition around Europe, nor the reformation, if he was less powerful than a king, and these fantasy stories are just a modernized Japanese view of a magical medieval Europe, so even though a Pope in real life never lead an army in history, in a fantasy manga it's all up to the author whether it's correct or not in a historical sense, more so because this is a fantasy VRMMO game manga

@permisan Pope Julius II was known to have lead troops into battle at least twice while he as pope and Cardinals leading troops in the same way a noble would wasn't anything unheard of.

I always wondered if the npcs of this game world know that the adventurers can resurrect themselves. Like during the contract fairy arc the queen seemed to know something about it when she referenced how the players see this world as "nothing but a illusion" though after the green dragon fight, the dragons used a revival elixir to bring Earth back saying how they cant let this man die.

Unrelated note, anyone else miss the queen interaction moments? Got excited we saw her make a return in this arc but it seems like shes really commited to keeping her promise with Earth. Granted there is a war currently but you'd think to see at least a glance or something when she saw that he was helping (Maybe the game devs wiped her memory of him after the spat)
