(i was about to write a small esay about human psychology and what different people see as and categorised as yuri and why examples would include TS Trans Crossdressing different types of yuri couples, ambiguous female relationship’s, confirmed by the author non yuri and other such possible subtypes and then i relised wait one tick this is a comment section why on earth I’m a simplified esay with high usage of dot points so ya no esay to day)

My thoughts: if it looks like yuri its yuri. And if it thinks like yuri then its also yuri. While this is one of the broader definitions of yuri and would be scolded by yuri purists, there are in my mind more extreme views such as "if they stand next to each other its yuri if they look at each other its yuri".

Yuri is girls. Romance between girls, with a bunch of tropes layered onto it. Tropes which I am sick of, but they’re part of the genre.
This is a heterosexual couple, because he’s a boy.

This stinks of the “lesbian is an umbrella term” crap that is personally offensive.
I am a homosexual woman. That’s what a lesbian is.
I’m also trans. While that isn’t relevant, people have a tendency to act like saying “homosexual people cannot be of the same orientation as genders to which they are not attracted“ is transphobic.

There are more transphobic people than those silly people.
They’re just dumb kids who want to see themselves in stories, to identify with characters they like more. It would be harmless if they kept it to themselves, or accept it is head canon only. Hell, they’re not being stupid AT you. Just say that it’s stupid, why they shouldn’t say it, and ignore them. You clearly get too worked up about it.
I’m one more post from an ignore with someone (hopefully) joking about a cross-dressing character “going the same way” as a trans character in the same story. I called them out with a single, direct sentence, and moved on.


“People from twitter” is a really really weird dog whistle when transphobia is not considered hate speech there, but using a basic Latin prefix to refer to non-trans people is.
This sort of crap goes on on tumblr more, anyway. (Don’t get me started on that place… Jesus fuck…)

That’s REAAAALLY common.
