Japanese social values are so far removed from western europeans that stuff like that doesn't turn up in stuff like manga just because it's like... it just exists, so why mention it? Usually irrelevant. Just like mentioning that healthcare is paid in US. Save for a few specific pieces of media it's irrelevant and never mentioned even though it's a large part of living there. Just, there is a lot of differences, and I ain't gonna pretend like I know even a considerable part of them.
