@zips An Urban Dictionary entry from as early as January 31st, 2013, quite simply yet still rather accurately describes the term for what it was originally supposed to mean:

"A transtrender is a person who identifies as male or female but does not experience any gender dysphoria. It can also mean someone who identifies as male or female because they think it's trendy/cool.

Person A - OMG I wanna be a boy now because I saw this really cool FTM on youtube.

Person B - *sighs* another Transtrender"

If someone wants to be the opposite of their exterior physical sex and gender role, that's... trans. It just is. It's as simple as that. Doesn't matter how long the feelings last (or indeed if it's inspired by a trend) or if it accompanies a fetish. Sometimes the fetish is itself defined by pleasure from the alleviation of dysphoric pain. And you know what? It's valid. You're valid. I'm valid. The Hero is valid. We all are OK. If those feelings come and however long they last or however connected they are to a fetish, you deserve support and you aren't a bad person.

I remember reading a bunch of Ranma 1/2 fan pages back in the mid 90's (anyone remember "Anime Web Turnpike"? ) where trans folk were talking about how uplifting the concept of the "curse" was. That's how a lot of trans folk got interested in anime and manga to begin with. We've always been here, we just usually aren't visible. We just know to keep our heads down because some people reflexively hate us with great intensity. Ironically some of them much younger than us who want to somehow gatekeep us out of a hobby we've had since before they were born.

Frankly, though, I don't have time to live my life in fear. And I sure as hell am not going to let that fear deter me from saying how much I love this manga and am grateful to everyone let me be able to read it. Deeply grateful to the author, the translator, typesetter and so on. Thank you so much! This really made my week and I find it super uplifting.

>genderbender and lolwtf/pervy comments
So fun!
>trans ideology and group therapy sessions pretending to be a comments section
So fucking gross and boring. I wish it were before 2013 again.

The best part of leaving pro-trans comments is that it's one of the best ways to get people you should already be blocking onto your list so you can improve your future MangaDex experience. They can't help but speak up, every time and thus you won't have to see them turn up later. I mean they could make sockpuppets once they realize it but as far as I'm concerned you've already won if you've driven someone to that. At that point it's a tacit admission that you're the established community member.

Come on out, little fish! I've collected quite a few of you by now but not nearly enough yet for Professor Oak to give me the Exp. All !

I dont really hate trans personally but the LGBT community is the trigger to the SJW existence. Why is it so offending to admit you're biologicaly born a male that transition to a female and vice versa. The SJW is also trying ruining every entertainment that they can get their hands on.

I want to state this, just because someone wants to become a girl or look like a girl doesn't necessary mean they're trans. Like since I was about nine, I've always kinda wanted to be a girl not because I felt like I identified as one, but more like because I liked girls and thus wanted to be like a girl too (this probably doesn't really make any sense but this is how I think I feel). Girls are just cuter/look better than guys and get to wear cute and more interesting clothing unlike guys. And now that I'm older it's kinda turned into a guilty fantasy/fetish. Anyone else feel similar?

I thought sex was an immutable characteristic, while gender was socially constructed and socially contingent?
Which would make the hero a female who identifies as a man for his gender, who had autogynephilia when he had a male sexed body, and is now trans because he still identifies as a man.

The following is a gross simplification of my feelings of the matter:
Also trans politics is not just boring, but also stupid, ignorant, self contradictory, dangerous and frivolous in that danger.
Not everyone's experience is valid, not everyone who thinks they are trans is trans, stop erasing autogynephilia and stay the fuck away from children.

@undercurses
I have heard many reasons why guys play female characters
1) Usually more character customization options, and/or exclusive outfits are made for female characters
2) Boring male character models/designs since the devs and artists didn't enjoy making male characters as much as female characters
3) SIMP bonus
4) Female character fits the story better
5) Gender locked classes
6) Dat ass is way more enjoyable to look at for hours on end than dude ass
7) Why not
