I think that with all the info characters have on hand it should have a happy ending, but they decided to end it there.

A bit confused on why the official end is chapter 16 when the side stories are obviously not spin-offs and are clearly part of the whole plot. The true ending is after the side-stories. Def a roller coaster of emotions (so much so I kinda wished doom on them both), but the ending is a happy one.
