@Wolvenworks - I think it's about climate. Russia isn't that wealthy either, but there seems to be a healthy community of armored people here. At first, equipment was somewhat post-apocalyptic, but it got better over time.
@tonie - Teutons sure did not gain much popularity by crusading against Christian countries (including mine).
@flannan IMO it's the culture. indonesia never really had that "running around with armor and sword" culture; those overpatriotic numbskulls insists that we fought the dutch and japanese with nothing but sharp bamboo sticks and sheer bravery. so most ppl wouldn't really think of picking up a sword, a set of armor, and go bash other ppl with a sword and armor beyond video games like Mordhau and Skyrim lol

(Btw they weren't so 'k-kill me' when they lost a fight they were running away faster than they ever did)
