This is due to the pages being double-page spreads and thus being downsized smaller than usual. This problem occurred on the original uploads to E-H as well. The gallery has been updated to split the spreads into individual pages to improve readability on web and mobile.

Usually this isn't a big issue, even with double spreads. In this case it was an unfortunate combination of very wide images, thin stroke text, and the text itself being quite small.
the curly font is actually not a font! our editor for this project decided he wanted to handwrite everything that wasn't narrative dialogue (i.e., the black boxes). this includes all the appropriate text in the april fool's version too, which means the madlad learned how to handwrite in ARABIC (and every other language, but arabic is most impressive to me) for the sake of the gag.
