I would love that, I had no idea there was even a volume 2 and assumed that the author had simply run out of ideas after the first 18 chapters as usually happens with this sort of cute manga.

Not all legendary metals are hard, they can just be very durable and magic conductive. This makes things like sword whips possible for example
Likely a matter of how you alloy it, kind of like how gold is actually soft, only mixed with copper or silver does it get hardness
Or another example would be how you have a solid cat, and it turns to liquid
