Although I'm not an expert on the subject, my impression of dolphins is that that's like... It's not wrong in the broadest sense, but... As species of animals go, throwing that insult at them seems inappropriate: They are capable of, and often practice, consent.

Dolphins are nice. Dolphins are dicks. Dolphins are complex intelligent social creatures that very likely do abstract thinking and get bored and do stuff for shits and giggles, like we do. They've been observed to save humans for no apparent reason, and they've been observed to kill humans for no apparent reason.

I always presume that's why we usually get along great, or something, we're both bonkers as species.
