Maybe it's the fact when you tension your adductor muscle, human thumbs curve into a round curve?

Are you talking about when she is saying "stop" to them? At first it looks odd, but if you look at it she is teisting her wrist, so her hand is facing outward, so it makes sense...or are you talking about a different panel? I'm loving this so far!

thats exactly it, our thumbs can't do 90 degrees there
