@Niconicoknee Though she cried when he yelled at her, that doesn't mean that she's somehow attracted to him or trying to manipulate him. She may not have romantic feelings for him, but she does love him as a friend. And when a friend yells at you, or lashes out, that hurts. Especially if you've known them for a long time, or two decades in this scenario. It feels almost like a betrayal, prioritising one person over another even though you've known each other for so long. The person that she loves as a friend is changing, and going down a path he may not come back from, and that must scare her.
