I think the writer just drew this to show how stupid this FMC can be.

I mean, how could she not notice this amazingly devoted male lead until she had so many relationships with other men?

Uh, because he wasn't devoted before. It's quite literally depicted that he acted awkward around her and didn't see her as a woman. Wdym?
