Soda should write a last will about One Piece plot. Last time I heard an author going sick is he goes to the grave next.

Except for Togashi that is. He is sick of Dragon quest he got to start working. Even I would get chronic back pains playing for a decade.

Hmm, perhaps so. Baki for example sucks as an Anime, The anime are low budget, lacking smoothness. But, Baki is better read either way.
One Piece is the confusing one, I love both it's anime and it's manga. The Manga will always be special, but I do find it difficult to reread older arcs which were a bit more bare bones and faster paced somehow. The Anime, despite the filler actually slows the older arcs, which makes them more enjoyable.
Alabasta for instance, once the crew arrive in the manga, they set off to find Koza and whatnot, find Ace for a few minutes, then he's gone. Anime takes it's time, we spend a few episodes with Ace, and we explore the land. It actually feels like a journey.
Of course, there're some bad filler too. Long-Ring-Long Land was a... not a bad arc, but not one I'll reread often, and the anime stuffed that arc with so much filler it made a so-so thing into a terrible thing. And as the Anime went on, The Lengthy flashbacks which are simply bits and pieces of older episodes also hurt pacing too.
But, more to the point of the thread, in support of "Manga better than Anime" I'll always say Jojo. Parts 1 and 2 were butchered by the Anime, made breakneck fast, and animated terribly. The original look of the art in the manga is completely lost, great moments are cut, and it's paced so fast.
Part 1 i've read in 4 hours, Part 2 in 4 and a half, both managed to be quite entertaining, yet part 2 in anime even managed to be longer than when I read it, and still was lackluster.
Beyond, I have no complaints for Part 3. I think when it comes to Jojo or Baki, the animators rely wholly on panels, which leads to still moments, which I think rob animated smoothness. Makes it feel cheap. A panel can still be possible, and smooth, but there's no in between, but I doubt they have the budgets for it.
Part 4 was fine. Part 5 was the apex of animation for Jojo, wasn't perfect, but it remains the smoothest part. Meanwhile part 6 is a dip which sort of loses the art style of the manga a slight bit, cuts scenes, and propels things swiftly. In fact each Part of the Anime manages to change the artstyle in some manner, which while some of the changes are nice, they do not hold a candle to the beauty of the manga.
But, of course, there is the problem. I compared part 1 and 2 in the anime, to part 1 and 2 when I read it. I imagined a quality that can never be satisfied in reality. Anime will always fall short to manga, because manga provides the frames for the mind to expand upon. The first ten chapters of Hokuto No Ken could be a 2-hour film in my mind, but the classic animated film managed to pack way more chapters in less time, altering story, cutting and rearranging characters, and while offering an entertaining film I do love, it fell short in comparison to what I wanted.
Animators can't really compete with the Imagination of diehard fans. It's impossible.

[BUUUT, I'll mention One Piece again, I know it's on a 6-month hiatus anime-wise, and Oda is taking a break due to health concerns (please Oda, rest, please, we can wait). And I also know that the Fishman Island re-edit absolutely sucks, proving my point of breakneck speed harming the flow of a story which the original anime made well, but the recent episodes of egghead and even wano were superbly animated and told.
But, I bet the One Piece Reanimation from WIT will suck, it will follow the faster-paced means, and if they were the ones who made the Monsters Special, their animation has to be the worst I've laid eyes upon.]

majority of anime adaptations of mangas in 2024 are garbage
you would have an easier time getting a girlfriend than looking for a good anime adaptation these days
For some reason, awful plot means quality adaptation.

I Parry Everything has great animation quality for its flat plot.

The good thing is that manga is now outsourced, so if you shit the workers they shit on you too ( they AWOL ). If the Gal Cleaner manga is outsourced he could have shat the publisher ( if I were him I would do some shit on him literally ) and make his own fundraiser instead of disappearing from this world.

In anime industry you can rarely do that because they cramp them inside a room, like in Shirobako. Exceptions are Studion Pont'arc ( developers of Isekai Ojisan ) and Studio Lerche who outsourced ( 90% of the reason why people SAY CoTE is ass anime ).

the plots are often good, the art from their source material almost always look great
then the anime often looks horrible and is horribly animated

Hasn't comics always been made by individuals/groups based on contract and not by the publisher's employees, so technically manga has been 'outsourced' since forever? I'm not sure what are you talking about, so actual title references etc would be nice.

The only common "outsourcing comic" practice I'm familiar with is manhwas getting 3rd country studios (because they're way cheaper) (and I'm in the said country) to draw around 40 colored panels every week and there are contract between these outsourced artists (it's contract-based instead of being regular studio members), with some I know even provided dorm/office facilities in exchange for making it harder to go AWOL.

Also no, if your shit already got licensed by a publisher you can't just legally run off and start a fundraiser to continue the series. This is why all the series with potential but got axed way so early or mysteriously never get out from hiatus hell simply just ended there, you don't see any continuation or whatever.

@kanamon unsure if in your first point you are referring to comic as a common term for manga, but also combining with your third point, in some cases is not really like that, that scenario is more for titles that are basically author/artist "for hire" like with adaptations from other sources.

More than anything the issue is that publishers have "Publisher and Distribution rights", authors retains the IP rights, but the publisher is the one that is offering his money and resources to promote the title, paying the author a salary and some licensing fee, with enough money authors can bought back part of this to have a saying in distribution/adaptations/derivative-works/merch; like Oda, Araki, Raiku. Some authors have even make the publishers agree to not request their share wen the author decided to release doujinshi from their titles, like in the case of KissxSis, or with The Dragon, the Hero, and the Courier which in fact was suggested by Shueisha (there are other examples in reddit threads, which also include other scenary in which the magazine goes defunct and the authors are given back more rights)

In general a lot of authors just acknowledge that it was not enough and just move on, like with Yuji Kaku, after the end of Ayashimon he shared images that "he was already working in another project", he wasn't sobbing for the cancellation, but he still likes to make Urara art, or a curious case with Dansou no Partner, Square Enix missmanaged the title and they were willing to correct the issue with the author and continue serialization but he decided to quit and the manga just ends.

IF they sue me for IP, I'd just say "bring 'em ON!" You can't collar my work! You can't even touch my brain!

P.S. I would also shit on their front door especially if that is a big building. Then post their slavery over the net. I know it will be taken down but it will go right through several free media.

Shit Negro! That's all you had to say!

So, all the things you comment are invalid because you admit this one are amazing.

Can't tell, too much edge.
Missed that line from pulp fiction. Pot calling the kettle black.

Anime is too tiring to watch these days, unless that is my deer friend. I also watched pop team epic just to see how awful the anime industry is.

They may be showing us pre cure, but their insides are like pop team epic.

there's a modern day version of this, its called MAPPA, their pay is pretty shit too especially if you're from a western country, if you're from asia like I am, you'd have to think "is it worth it to sacrifice your entire life for a project or not?" :kek: :nyoron:

I think Trigger did, they have a patreon now, which is nice
I am guessing the reason animators split group because of the pay and the profits are reaped by yours truly ... the studio owner. I guess the producers SHARE 1% of the profit while the bottom people get ... nuts.

no not really, assistants are generally contacts of the editors and publishing company to my knowledge

that only applies if you're dumb enough to work for places like webtoons which pays peanuts for your work or kakao which is a modern day sweatshop, absolute garbage company, right now there are moves to have better pay in some pop-ups in southeast asia at least, they try to partner with Japanese companies too

Well v-streamers STILL WORK for niji-sanji so....

Let's just say, you need to start somewhere first so these won't be disappearing for a while. IN FACT ANIME IS GLORIFYING THAT BLACK COMPANY LIKE AN ISEKAI DUNGEON!!!! ( PUN intended ... look at anime isekai Meikyuu Black Company ... instead of going on strikes and hiring Yakuza to beat up the rich, they made anime and glorified the yakuza beating up the poor. )

AI actually made the work faster ... so AI will soon replace peanut factory labor. Goes for manga, and especially for anime ... which is just a thousand page flipping webtoon.

Plus novels can't create eight fingered copied anime characters with glossy skin.

Happens to HASBRO too, and I dove deep on why HASBRO stocks collapsed -- it is because they, the IP makers, don't want their work and passed it ALL on HASBRO for manufacturing - who only knows how to, you know, MASS PRODUCE.

It made the IP legs HASBRO stand on as thin as a centipede while their corporate belly bloated like a frog from the slavery. Now comes and even fatter slave trader - the Chinese counterfeits or "proxy" as you call them FOR ALL HASBRO products - and squashed the company who couldn't do anything.

It lost the legs it needed to stand after all.
