While her brothers are confirmed bastards, I have this feeling that her father might not have been as bad as she remembers.
Like, as far as I remember, the only negative thing he said to her that we've seen was something along the lines of "do you really have no talent at all?" and we don't get to see his face when he says it. It could have very well been a genuine question out of confusion, since it obviously wouldn't make sense to him how she just suddenly no longer has aptitude for magic, when that's the whole reason that he originally took her with him.
Phrased poorly either way, but yeah, idk.
