Just caught up. Pretty good. I'm gonna make a theory that her magic has some kind of special status attached. One that makes her favored by others. Basically a protagonist tag. When her magic was stolen, the tag was taken as well. Maybe people are able to overcome it, when given a reason. My guess is that in her previous life, Hessaros understood that Leina? (Idk spelling) had stolen her magic (or that she was corrupted with malice) and effectively attacked her mentally, or tried to purify her, which resulted in the coma. He was unsuccessful in any case, so he broke. It also lines up with how people at the beginning were constantly questioning why they were helping her. Why the archduke was drawn to her even under different circumstances. I think Asiel loved her in her past life, and she him, but neither knew. Both misunderstood each other.
