Well, that confirms that there's no time travel involved. They're in the present, not 1000 years ago.

But the how is Harold(the hero from 1000 years ago) still alive?
… Magic? A curse? Ambient stasis effect of The Abandoned? This is a fantasy manga, anything can happen!

hand of the demon king or some shit, right?
Honestly a bit too early for team-breakup shenanigans, I feel. Haven't even seen the new girl's ordeal in the trio

Dwarf chief is now confirmed to be her relative. Uncle or grandfather?

Although I'm surprised that she would stay with the dwarfs like that, even more surprised that Naura and Pete would go with Harold.

Dwarf chief seems more desperate than evil, but who knows?

Just because something looks out of place doesn't immediately mean it's AI.

The author is clearly using pre-made pre-rendered assets for many of his backgrounds and then applying filters to blend them in with the rest of the art. It's a well known and very old technique called photo bashing.

You can tell because in a lot of cases he enlarges them too much and there's pixelation. If he was using AI this wouldn't be an issue since he could just re-render.

In other instances, he is using pre-made textures and then drawing line art over them to create perspective (this is very noticeable on the floor tiling on page 13 if you zoom in) .

When it comes to digital manga this kind of stuff is common, especially nowadays when you can so easily get all these assets and save yourself a lot of repetitive work.
Maybe the author has an assistant specialized in monsters or backgrounds ?
The studio behind Bastard had a monster specialist that worked on some of their uglies and did a few very interesting designs and was a big fan of Giger (the designer of the original alien creature for those who don't know)... Some even inspired Miura for a few demons in Berserk.

You mean the Netflix version of Bastard? Or the original?
