What a cool concept for a mimic. Notice how it was able to regenerate. I'm guessing the 'tail' is really more like an umbilical cord to the main body. I wonder if it will look like a chest in typical fantasy fashion.

Something tells me they're gonna adopt the real hatchling and the mother is going to meet some tragic end. It just feels like that might be the route we're gonna go, like "this child can't survive in this harsh environment anymore" or something. If I'm wrong, then that's fine.

Feels like the mother knew that her child was replaced, but couldn't bring herself to kill the mimic because of its appearance. So she brought something that could. Which might explain why she doesn't move against Harold for his action.
Either he wins and frees her lost child, or dies and becomes a meal to stave off the death of her other.

I have it in my profile but in case you're curious the group name is a real line in a visual novel I really like called Karenai Hana to Owaru Sekai.
I happened to be playing it back in 2016 when I first started scanlating and needed a name for my releases and that line just popped into my mind, and so it remains to this day.
