Wow thats a cool mimic concept, feel bad but it's cool, but I have an inkling they're gonna turn him into their pet slave monster

This mimic dude is either going to be utterly atomized, or he's going to join the party as the "token evil teammate that acts like a jerk 85% of the time, but eventually will learn the magic of friendship".

A group if adventurers walk into a bar, armed to the teeth. The barkeep asks why they carried weapons into his bar.

An adventurer said "Mimics."

The party laughed.

The barkeep laughed.

The table laughed.

They killed the table.

That's just a parasite. So, a parasite-based mimic?
While there's a crustacean-based mimic in Dungeon Meshi.

hmmm, didn't they say that the mimic could only possess inanimate things like corpses? Seems like if mimics can kill and take over anything that ingests it they would be a much more notable threat to the world at large.
We still haven't seen where that long "tail" was connecting to. It's entirely possible that despite the parasitic nature it's still cripplingly limited in movement from where ever the main body's at.

Well, that's fucking horrifying. I hope they have therapists for dracolings in that world, cuz that's gonna leave a mental scar. Hell, I'll split the bill if I could get a session after reading that.

Page 6, you can see the long tail dangling from the dragon's mouth still, which wouldn't be there if it had been severed. It didn't get exploded because the dragon broke it, it exploded to start killing it from the inside out, likely going for the brain, given how violent that buildup beneath flesh and resulting bloody explosion was. Once it died, then the mimic could start consuming it and possess its corpse.
