I believe it would be an asset to the site to have the ability to rate groups similar to the rating scale currently on individual manga. While I am aware that there is a function to follow groups, and a function to block translations by certain groups, it's a very binary position. In my experience, blocking tends to be reserved for groups who are controversial as opposed to the quality of their scans, on the other hand, you don't follow a scanlation group because their quality is good, you usually follow them because the type of manga they scanlate falls in line with your tastes for what you're looking for. At least in the general sense.

Meanwhile, there are plenty of groups translating projects you may be interested in, but while the manga may be good, their actual scanlation may be detrimental to the material itself. In the current system, all I can really do is leave a rating on the manga's page for how good it is, but just because a groups translation is awful doesn't mean that the manga itself is awful. With a rating system, it would make it easier to discern what groups really put a lot of effort and good work into their scanlations, and put out groups that don't really care about the material, and just do minimum machine translation and copy and paste.

@Halo
Alright, new suggestion.

Ability to search forum posts. I intentionally went out of my way to try and search for this suggestion in earlier threads so that I wouldn't run into this exact situation. At best I can only use google and hope that it spiders it's way to an existing thread. I found no results and made this thread. Can we get a search function for the forums to avoid duplicate posts? Else how am I supposed to avoid duplicating like this?

I don't blame you for it, there's nothing wrong with your post.
Forum searching will be included in the next site overhaul, which is "in the near future" but in reality it has no timeline to speak of.

For internet searching you can use:
"site:mangadex.org/thread"
Which limits the search results to forum and manga threads.

@Chrona Another forum, with search and basic features, is planned. When - nobody knows. Even the developers.

For now, you can use "site:mangadex.org your search" filter on google.

I def want a rating system. Some groups are just troll groups like "chillock" who just meme the dialogue and change things.

Their work on the Pumpkin Head comic was awful. Forced politics, meme "british" slang. it was just BAD

Honestly, I see how this goes down lol. Group B snipes group A so group A launches a campaign to rate bomb group B into oblivion.

I think there should be an option to rate users. I'm sure it would work out 100% no issues.

Pretty sure that's against some of the rules regarding troll translations, and should be reported.

There isn't. You can upload your own translation, but unless their work contains something truly outrageous, mods will generally do nothing at all.
There's another group called "SSSSS" led by a sorry excuse of a human being who uploads random chapters that are not in order and confuse readers. And he does that simply to troll people. Mod had to lock the comment section of a chapter that was released by him. But the chapters still stay. We're all adults here, so let's learn to not feed the troll. If you see some crappy contents from a group, on purpose, simply block and move on. Or if it makes you feel better, insult them with everything you've got and block so you get to say the last words. XD

I don't really mind Pumpkin Night's translation because at least it was something I can laugh at. Posting chapters out of order just to piss off readers and other translators warrants an immediate block from me.

You joke, but this has been seriously suggested before, without any self-awareness of the parallels to West Taiwan's Social Credit System.
You make it sound as if your current government isn't already doing this, just behind closed doors.

Furthermore, reddit exists and uses this, "karma" is just a name.

Who stated I wanted to change their minds? Mangadex can or can choose not to have a social credit system for all I care. You just seem incredulous to the social credit score system given your use of "West Taiwan" as a perjorative, and I wanted to show you that it's not only probably occurring even if it isn't formally codified it's still being done on a government level as far as CIA/FBI profiling of shooters and other menaces to societies, it's already culturally accepted as a system in the West (reddit and it's social credit system being the third most used site on the web). If anything your concern shouldn't be the implementation of such a system, but the fact you're already living in one, you just don't know your score.
