a nice reference to an anecdote about Scipio asking Hannibal to rank "history's greatest generals". Hannibal puts Alexander first, then Pyrrhus, and Scipio readily agrees. But in third, Hannibal places himself. Scipio is shocked, and says "Then what about me, who defeated you?" to which Hannibal replies, "If I had defeated you, then I would have ranked myself even above Alexander."
I'm sure we'll see that moment (much) later in the series, but it's fun to know that even now, Hannibal's estimation of historical generals is consistent.
