So yeah, we skip some chapter of the LN to go directly to the invitation to Christmas. It's quite nice to see Adachi going out of her way to ask Hino for a present for Shimamura, that mean she is more confident.

Taking bets on Shimamura actually being super pumped for their Christmas date and also out buying a gift for Adachi

Adachi looked adorable when Shima accepted going out, also in that panel with Hino in page 11.

huh, the novel made it seem like they were going out together in this chapter but they were actually going out with Hino and Nagafuji, I agree that Shima probably also went looking for a gift for Adachi.

@Tcof. Kinda yeah, they have two bonus short chapters in the second volume of the Light Novel (after the second and third chapter)

@Zexal - I don't think this is Christmas yet. They were at school and then Hino and Adachi went gift-shopping for Shimamura after that. I know Japan sees Christmas differently than most of the west, but I'm pretty sure that's still a school holiday for them. So presumably (hopefully) AdaShima will get some nice alone time on the actual date.

@SpiritusNox - Unless something has changed recently, I'm pretty sure December 25th is a regular school day for Japan. However, winter break usually starts pretty close to that time, so it could be up to the individual school's schedule, whether Christmas falls on a regular day off and/or good old writer's fiat.

@Lilliwyt

There are no state holidays in Japan during December, and some schools could be in session on Christmas Day. But Japanese schools tend to have a break beginning on or before 23 December and ending after 4 January.

The birthday of Emperor Akihito (who abdicated on 30 April 2019) is 23 December, and that was widely treated as an appropriate start for school breaks. Akihito is still alive and regarded as the Emperor Emeritus, so perhaps his birthday will continue to provide a formal justification, or perhaps the convention will continue for no reason other than path-dependency.

The New Year is traditionally celebrated from 31 through 4 January, with 1 January itself being a state holiday. The other state holiday in January is on 14 January.

A slim majority of the Japanese consider themselves as without religion. A bit more than a third are Buddhists. About a ninth practice Shinto. About a tenth are Christian.

@SpiritusNox. Ah! sorry if I wasn't clear, I know this wasn't the christmas date ^^; what I meant was that, in the LN they have these "preview" images of the chapters of the book at the beggining, there are two that made it looks like Adachi and Shima were shopping together, but in reallity both are different moments, the one that pictures Adachi is from the "adachi's thoughts" chapter, where she is shopping with Hino, while the other, "Shimamura's thoughts" Shows Shima shopping with what looks like a black haired girl, who I thought was Adachi, but it's actually Nagafuji.

Really love how Hino asked for permission to be dead wrong before confidently handing her the tea bags.
