adaptation - definition

so what does it mean? I saw one that said adaptation. Is it that it is taken from a novel specifically or something else? I'm reading at least one that is coming from a novel but it doesn't have adaptation on it.

@schlo Adaptation means it's not an original manga. Could be manga made from game, movie, anime, novel, etc. The series you read probably missing the tag "adaptation", that's all

Adaptation means it's derived from its original source material to a different from of media. For example, the Sword Art Online anime and manga series are adapted from the original light novel series. The term "adaptation" is used because it has to be "adapted" to fit the new format (eg. converting paragraphs of worldbuilding text into actual visuals).

cool, thanks guys, kind of like I thought but wanted to make sure. I kind of wondered if it might be missing on the couple I read that didn't have it.

and that's guys in the genderless sense. :)
