Every year, MangaDex celebrates April 1st with a few things, and notably some ads being displayed all around the website.
Obviously they're not actual ads, but rather images/animations a propos of various titles on the website in a bad-internet-ads style. And clicking them links to the title they relate to.
They show up on the homepage, on the reader, and a bunch of other places (wherever we can think of putting them without breaking the site, basically).
This thread is for you to participate by coming up with your own "tasteful"memes ads for us to add. Show us and MD users around the world your creativity and/or humor.
The rules are quite simple, really:
1. Visuals should relate to a title on MangaDex, which they will link to (please mention which one in your comments)
2. It's ok for them to be a bit lewd, but no full-on pornography, shock content, nor spoilers
You can choose between two formats: wide (banner-style) or portrait (cover-style)
Note that animations are totally OK, but no 20MB monster-GIF or epilepsy trigger attempts.
Also while most of these tend to be positive, it's ok if it's shittalking/mocking the title in question a bit, if that's how you prefer to approach it.
Here are a few examples from the past years for inspiration.
Banners:
Covers:
And here is a chapter that collates all the ones that were new in 2023: https://mangadex.org/chapter/b2499431-ec5f-4e39-af3c-e5d6a4f5c89d (you can find other years in full by looking at their respective April's Fool title pages).
The deadline is March 31st as we will need to collate them, and prepare the technical side of things on our end a little bit ahead of time.
We hope to see plenty of great ads from you while we work out what our own gimmick shall be this year!
(if you missed it, last year we had proudly unveiled MangaDex Orange, a premium MangaDex ™️ experience, as a parody of Twitter Blue)

FAQ based on questions answered in the thread:
- Exact size requirements? Just keep roughly the same ratios as the ones posted as example. It doesn't have to be a specific ratio down to the pixel. Just try and match one of the 2 types in the examples above)
- Is this thread the place to post my suggestions? Yes.
